Makeshift hoists often require a great deal of ingenuity and physical strength when lifting large game animals with usually less than desirable results.

But now, thanks to hunting enthusiast, Rick Rowland, there’s the Big Boy Game Hoist!

Purpose

Hanging and processing game animals of all sizes has never been easier! The hoist will safely lift a large game animal weighing up to twelve hundred pounds so a hunter can perform field dressing operations easily. It can be set up anywhere you find a healthy mature tree, with little or no damage to the tree. Lightweight aluminum construction and a 7-foot boom allows ample working room, and is designed to work with most lifting devices. This hoist also works well when loading for transport purposes.

Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Rick Rowland of Alberta has created a carcass hoist capable of working with an electric winch or a towing vehicle. Wild game can now be field dressed in a safe and consistent manner!

The inspiration was born after years of using makeshift hanging apparatuses to hang game. They mostly consisted of two trees with a cross beam secured to each tree. Typically, they would be located deep within the bush and they wouldn’t be accessible without cutting your way through and sometimes even cutting a tree or two. This took a great deal of physical strength and some of the trees and structures were, at best, questionable when lifting a thousand-pound moose to be processed. The meat would sometimes even become contaminated with leaves, pine needles, or branches from working between two trees. As the years went on and with all things considered, Inventor Rowland knew he either had to come up with an easier, safer way of hanging and field dressing game, or quit hunting altogether. This led to his creation: the Big Boy Game Hoist!

This clever new invention was created to minimize physical exertion. The hoist will safely lift a large game animal weighing up to twelve hundred pounds. It will allow ample working room for convenience. The hoist will be lightweight yet strong and durable. It will be environmentally friendly to trees, too.
